Cancellation Policy

Cancellation notices must be issued via email or over the phone. Voicemail messages will not be considered as cancellation requests. Both parties must be responsive. All clients must notify Gabrielle Davis at least 7 days in advance if an event is cancelled. Any events cancelled 2 days prior, 1 day prior, or the day of are considered a last minute cancellation. Last minute cancellations may result in no refund.

If the event is canceled, you will only receive a partial refund of that deposit. The fees based upon notice of cancellation are as follows:

  • 30 days notice: 25% of the total deposit

  • 7 to 29 days notice: 50% of the total deposit

A partial refund is only issued if the client has notified Gabrielle Davis at least 7 days in advance upon cancellation notice. Partial refund amounts are based upon the deposit that was placed by the client. The refund amount based upon notice of cancellation are as follows:

  • 30 days notice: 75% refund of the paid deposit
  • 7 to 29 days notice: 50% refund of the paid deposit

deposits & balances

All clients must submit a minimum deposit of 50% of the total invoice. Dates, times, and details discussed are considered unconfirmed until a deposit is paid. The client has not hired DJ Smuvi if no deposit was issued via check, PayPal, SquareCash, credit/debit, or physical cash. DJ Smuvi has the right to accept other bookings if no deposit was paid.


Copyright Terms  and conditions

In the United States, the venue (which includes bars, clubs, restaurants, or retail stores) is required to obtain that public performance license through ASCAP, BMI, or SESAC (which are PROs or Performing Rights Organizations). If the event venue does not fall under the categories mentioned above, this means that no copyright laws will be breached during the event. If the venue is under one of the categories mentioned, it is the venue's responsibility to obtain the necessary public performance licensing. DJ services are considered a 'non-fixed medium of expression'. Therefore, any live event where music is played and is not reproduced, distributed, or duplicated is considered 'Fair Use'. A copyright prevents infringement by means of reproduction, distribution, or duplication. DJ services do not fall under that umbrella and is a 'non-fixed medium of expression' under Fair Use.
